BIA is the primary international airport in Sri Lanka, located in the town of Katunayake, approximately 35 kilometers north of the capital city Colombo. It is the busiest airport in Sri Lanka and serves as a hub for Sri Lankan Airlines and a number of other international airlines.
BIA has two terminals - Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Terminal 1 is the main terminal and handles the majority of international flights, while Terminal 2 serves as a backup terminal and is used during peak times and for some domestic flights.
The airport has a range of facilities for passengers, including duty-free shops, restaurants, lounges, currency exchange, ATMs, and car rental services. There are also facilities for disabled passengers, including wheelchairs and accessible toilets.
BIA has direct flights to a number of destinations around the world, including major cities in Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Australia. It is also a popular transit point for passengers traveling between Asia and Europe, with many airlines offering connecting flights through BIA.

Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA)
Located in Katunayake, about 35km north of Colombo, BIA is the main international gateway to Sri Lanka. It is named after the former Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Bandaranaike, and serves as the hub for Sri Lankan Airlines.
Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA)
Located in Hambantota, in the southern part of Sri Lanka, MRIA was opened in 2013 and is the second international airport in Sri Lanka. It was named after the former President of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapaksa, and was built to cater to the increasing demand for air travel to the southern region of Sri Lanka. However, due to its remote location and low passenger traffic, it is currently underutilized.
